Soccer Night in Saline
The old guard faced the new blood at Hornet Stadium Friday night in a Saline High School soccer exhibition.
The 2013 Saline varsity boys soccer team, coached by Dana Restrick, played to a 1-1 tie with the Hornet alumi team.
The 2013 edition of the Hornets struck early. About 17 minutes into the game Arman Astani threaded the ball through the defense to Rob Smith who ripped a shot into the goal for a 1-0 lead. The younger Hornets team controlled the tempo for the first half but 2011 grad Alec Bonifer scored a few seconds before the horn to tie the game at halftime.
The young Hornets hosts an exhibition tournament at Saline High School Saturday with games at 9 a.m., noon and 4 p.m.
