ChadTough Online Auction is Live!

This post expresses the views and opinions of the author(s) and not necessarily that of The Saline Post management or staff.

An online auction for the ChadTough Foundation is now LIVE and features many unique Michigan athletics experiences among the more than 300 items, including dinner with Jawan Howard, incredible vacation packages, signed sports memorabilia, and more!

The auction opened this past Saturday and closes this coming Saturday (May 13) at 8 p.m. ET. It is part of the annual ChadTough Defeat DIPG Gala, to be held Saturday night at Crisler Center in Ann Arbor. The event is sold out. Funds from the gala and the auction support research for diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), the most lethal form of brain cancer, responsible for the death of 5 year old Chad Carr in 2015.

This year, Michigan’s head basketball coaches and their spouses are hosting the gala, and there are plenty of basketball-related auction items, including:

Dinner with the Howards (current top bid: $1,050): The winning bidder can bring three guests to join Michigan men’s head basketball coach Juwan Howard and his wife Jenine at their favorite Ann Arbor restaurant, The Dixboro House.

Pickleball with Kim Barnes Arico ($390): A group of seven will join Michigan women’s basketball coach Kim Barnes Arico at Wolverine Pickleball in Ann Arbor for two hours of round-robin play.

Ball boy/girl at a game: A young fan between the ages of 8 and 12 will serve as the ball boy/girl at a men’s game ($550) or women’s game ($500) next season. Each includes four tickets to the game.

Michigan football is well represented in the auction as well.

Recruit for a day ($850): The winner and a guest will visit Schembechler Hall, have professional photos taken in full Michigan uniform, tour the facilities, and have lunch with recruiting staff.

On the field at Michigan Stadium ($1,800): A group of four will receive tickets to one of Michigan’s first two games (the opener against East Carolina or the next week against UNLV) and be allowed on the field for pregame warmups or one quarter of game action.

Gameday experience with assistant coaches ($1,625): A group of four will get tickets to a game this season (can choose from UNLV, Rutgers, Indiana, or Purdue), tailgate with the coaches’ wives, and meet assistant coaches Chris Partridge and Jay Harbaugh before the game. The winners will also watch pregame warmups from the sideline and bring home some Michigan gear, including a helmet signed by the coaching staff.

There are other opportunities to meet with football coaches too, such as: lunch and a tour with Sherrone Moore ($1,000); dinner with Mike Hart ($2,025); hanging out with Ron Bellamy and Grant Newsome ($525); lunch with Lloyd Carr and former star wide receiver Braylon Edwards ($500).

Other Michigan coaches and figures appear on the auction. There is golf and lunch with athletic director Warde Manuel ($400); dinner with president Santa Ono and his wife ($1,025); coffee and conversation with former softball coach Carol Hutchins ($501); coffee and a tour with hockey coach Brandon Naurato ($1,250).

Other unique experiences include watching a Michigan football game in the booth with radio announcers Jon Jansen and Doug Karsch ($1,500) and a personalized recording from the voice of Michigan Stadium, Carl Grapentine ($200).

The auction includes autographed helmets, jerseys, and other memorabilia, with the Detroit Lions, Pistons, Red Wings, and Tigers represented. There are travel packages and concert tickets and artwork as well.
