Two Twelve Arts Knitters Invite People on Yarn Bomb Bicycle Circuit

 06/16/2016 - 00:26

A yarn-bombed bicycle is parked in front of Bank of Ann Arbor in downtown Saline. The bicycles were yarn-bombed by members of the Two Twelve Arts Center's Cake Eaters Club.

Two Twelve Arts Center has earned a reputation for the colorful yarn bombed trees that show up on Michigan Ave each summer. This year the trees have been taken down by the construction on Michigan Avenue.  Never fear. Two Twelve Yarn Bomb is still here.

A group from 212 Cake Eaters have spent the last several months feverishly knitting to cover ten different bicycles that have been placed around Saline. The bikes are part of a scavenger hunt, yarn bomb and community-wide interactive art installation.

To join in the fun, pick up a map at participating locations and coffee shops around town. Follow the map and cruise around Saline to visit the knitted bikes. Collect a token from each bike. Take your 10 tokens to Two Twelve Arts Center and be entered into a prize drawing.

Winners will be announced at Summerfest, Saturday, August 13, at 2 p.m. on stage before the Two Twelve Arts children’s play.

Bike locations are: Saline Rec Center, Liberty School, Saline District Library, Saline City Hall, Henne Field, Bank of Ann Arbor, Salt Springs Brewery, Risdon Park, 208 W. Henry and Two Twelve Arts Center.  The Knit 1 Bike 2 Saline committee would like to especially thank John Waterman and Junga Ace Hardware for their support with this project.

Two Twelve Arts Center is located at 216 W. Michigan Ave. For more information about Two Twelve programs and classes call 734-944-2787 or visit
