Students and parents are invited to attend an open house to learn more about the South and West Washtenaw Consortium at Saline High School.
The open house is from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 9, with tours of the SWWC’s state-of-the-art facilities beginning at 5:45 p.m.
The SWWC is a career and technical education program offered to students in Saline, Milan, Manchester, Dexter, Chelsea and Lincoln schools. Generally, the programs are available to juniors and seniors – though they are sometimes available to Saline sophomores, since the classes, facilities and labs are located at Saline High School.
Tuesday’s open house is open to all district parents but will be especially useful to sophomores and their parents considering classes for next year. The open house can also be helpful to middle school students and their parents who wish to begin course planning.
The open house is also an opportunity for parents of current SWWC students to see where their children are learning.
Career and technical education students often have a leg-up other teens or young adults seeking employment. Skills learned in many SWWC classrooms can be honed over a lifetime.
