LAX: Saline Opens Playoffs with 15-5 Victory

Saline slammed Salem 15-5 in the MHSAA Division 1 pre-regional tournament game at Saline High School Friday. The Hornets now face Northville in the regional quarterfinal at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Northville.

David Simon scored six goals and Jay Graden added four goals for Saline.  Chad Jarvie, Tom Needham, Noah Terech, Jack Loveland, and Robby Borer also scored for Saline, with Needham adding two assists and winning faceoffs.

Tommy Lucas and Logan Bruneau each picked up five ground balls. Graden, Needham, and Tristan Klinski each grabbed four ground balls.

Liam Turner stopped seven of 12 shots.

Graden opened the scoring 2:17 into the game. Simion scored twice and Loveland and Jarvie also scored to give Saline a 5-0 first period lead before Salem got on the board. The Hornets led 6-1 after the first period and 11-2 at halftime.
