The Acoustic Routes concert series, hosted by Mangiamo Italian Grill, 107 W. Mich. Ave., will be showcasing wildly different takes on Americana, the blues and traditional music this weekend.
On Saturday at 8 p.m., the five-piece Duane Harlick Band takes the stage. Harlick, one of Detroit’s most in-demand studio and live guitar players, is riding a wave of five 2016 Detroit Music Award nominations, including one for Best Americana Album. Backed by bass, drums, keyboards and pedal steel guitar, he'll be playing vast mix of original music drawn from pop, rock, jazz, R&B, country and other American roots.
On Sunday at 8 p.m., The Hummingbirds – an husband and wife duo – will perform on their wedding anniversary. The Hummingbird’s music grips both northern and southern Americana roots, blending grit and self-reliance with hospitality and charm. You’ll hear tales of love and loss, but expect the unexpected as they weave in stories of rattlesnakes and swamps, highways, and lighthouses.
No Depression magazine’s review says it all: “Excellent music. Absolutely beautiful vocals. Humid and hot with ice cold lemonade up against your sweaty cheek musicianship. Yeah…back porch, black cat moan-type mood done quite successfully.”
Each concert is $15 cover at the door (100% to the artists). Reservations are highly recommended: call 734-429-0060. Full bar & dinner service available.
