Downtown Diner Hosts Special Event to Showcase New Barbecue Menu

The Saline Downtown Diner is showcasing its new barbecue dinner menu at a special event Thursday, from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Admission for the event is $20 per person. Owner Jeff Tritton and staff will serve a sample platter of smoked meats, sides, bread and dessert. Email¬†[email protected] to reserve a space.

The event is being held to give people a taste of what to come as the diner, formerly a breakfast and lunch restaurant, expands its menu and hours.

"Smokey Nights at the Saline Downtown Diner" begin May 2. The diner, which typically closes at 3 p.m., will be open during dinner hours Thursday-Saturday. The menu will include smoked pork, brisket, ribs and salmon. Tritton said specials may include wings, duck and trout. Side dishes include "pink vintage" coleslaw, potato salad, pasta salad, buttermilk biscuits, sweet potatoes, mac and cheese, smoked barbecue baked beans and Megen's homemade soups.

The downtown diner is located at 131 E. Michigan Ave., Suite D, and is best accessed through the parking lot north of Michigan Avenue, off Ann Arbor Street.
