Best Western Premier in Southfield, December 2017

This Forum thread supplements an Opinion article that I contributed to The Saline Post earlier today. Think of this as "research" in anticipation of our own upcoming Best Western Premier in Saline.

The photograph above is of room 904, featuring a single king-sized bed and overlooking southbound Telegraph Road. Without hesitation, my husband described it as feeling like any of a number of hotels in which he's stayed while traveling in Europe.

As a property that reflects the Premier "standard," I think this speaks very well for the type of guest that Saline Lodging Group is looking to attract here locally when our hotel opens on East Michigan Avenue.

This area thoroughly impressed me on so many levels.

It's a single space that's been very creatively laid-out to serve a variety of needs, many at the same time.

Right off the lobby, there are comfortable living-room-style chairs where a couple might have a conversation while watching for other people they are waiting to meet.

Further in, there are more out-of-the-way areas for perhaps business conversations. In this photograph, you can also see bar-height chairs and a counter — with outlets to power laptops and personal entertainment devices.

Also notice the television screens.

  • I don't know what's being planned for the Eastgate Saline Best Western Premier, but can't you just imagine how we could use such options locally to carry cable broadcasts when the LPGA Volvik championship was "just down the street" here?
  • How about something by SCTN during the Celtic Festival?
  • Trailers for first-run movie releases being shown at Emagine Theatre just across the street?

Located on the second floor, this exercise area opened shortly after Mother's Day last year. The Best Western Premier Southfield renovation project took approximately three years.

This is currently offered to all guests from 6:30am to 10:30am.

Breakfast is prepared and serviced by The Epicurian Group, which also operates the hotel bar and restaurant, The Nomad Grill.

Hot items included scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and fried potatoes. Fruit and muffins were also offered. In addition, you could have hot or cold cereal and even make your own waffles using an almost goof-proof iron. As I wrote in my original Opinion article for The Saline Post, I can't imagine having gotten any better a breakfast if we'd gone out to eat somewhere else on Telegraph in the morning.

PS The photograph above was taken just before 9:00am, over halfway into meal service that morning.

Shortly after we arrived for our stay, the hotel bar was our first stop to unwind and settle into the Best Western Premier Southfield. In addition to being a classy addition to the hotel itself, we found the bartender a willing and able ad hoc concierge on behalf of local options for engaging off-property nightlife.

Fun night at the Best Western Hotel

Thank you Janet for the good stuff the hotel offers.  Pictures were great.  Nice way to start off the 2018 year.
