It still feels warm enough to be summer, but fall is approaching along with fun activities like building a scarecrow for the annual contest that brings straw filled creative creations to the streets of downtown Saline.
The fifth annual Saline Scarecrow Contest runs October 1st through the 31st and is your opportunity to put your creative talents to use and make downtown Saline a special place. Waldo is making his usual appearance around Saline in the weeks leading up to the contest to remind you that it's never too early to start thinking about what your crafty creation will look like this year.
Recently Waldo made a surprise visit to check in on the construction going on downtown and a portion of the Hoffman Brothers Construction crew that met him to learn about the contest are excited to see what Saline residents bring downtown this year. This year, with a nod to the Michigan Ave. rebuilt project will feature a special "construction" category for all entries that contain a "construction" themed scarecrow.
Registration is necessary to enter and can be done online by visiting: http://www.borerchiro.com/saline-scarecrow-contest.html.
While on the website you can view past year's entries and winners as well as vote for your favorite once the voting begins (voting begins October 15th and runs through October 31st). Voting may be done once per day once voting begins.
Once your creation is completed bring it to Borer Family Chiropractic at 210 W. Michigan Ave., Saline, where it will be given a number, photographed and carefully placed in a nice location downtown Saline.
Don't forget to come downtown during the month of October to see all the scarecrow creativity and talent. It's also a perfect opportunity to see the what our new downtown Saline looks like.
