The City of Saline has hired Mike Greene as assistant city manager and community development director.
Greene, a 28-year-old native of Caro, Mich., is employed as manager of the Village of Three Oaks.
He begins the job in Saline on Dec. 16.
The city created the new assistant manager position after learning the results of an organizational study completed earlier this year.
The assistant city manager will answer to City Manager Todd Campbell and be responsible for planning, organizing and directing all activities of the community development department, which includes planning, zoning, code enforcement, building review, inspections, assessing and business attraction and retention.
According to an article in the Harbor County News, Greene began his education at Central Michigan University and considered a career in politics before deciding on public administration. He earned his bachelor’s degree from CMU before earning a master’s degree in public administration from East Carolina University. He worked in the Rockingham County. N.C. budget office for a year before taking the position in Three Oaks, a town of 1,622 people located near Lake Michigan, close to the Indiana border.
