Michael Lee Guenther, 63 of Plant City, Florida, formerly of Saline, Michigan passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 16, 2020. Michael was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on July 13, 1956, the son of Victor H. and Kay L. Austin Guenther who survive him.
Michael graduated from Saline High School in 1974, attended Michigan Tech University and the University of Michigan.
Michael was employed by Saline Area Schools for over 20 years in many capacities including Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds; coaching Middle School football and Varsity softball
For many years he umpired for the Michigan High School Athletic Association until moving to Florida. He also was the Head Coach of one of the best travel baseball teams in Saline history, the Saline Yellowjackets. He was very well-known as a great baseball umpire all over the state of Michigan. He loved making an impact on the youth. Michael had lived in Florida the past several years and was director of Localecopia Marketplace. His hobbies were gourmet cooking, fantasy football and horseshoes.
Surviving Michael in addition to his parents are his three sons, Matthew (Lauren) Guenther, Brendan Guenther and Bradley Guenther as well as his granddaughter, Avery Grace Guenther. He is survived by one sister, Sandra (Mark) Wellet; as well as one nephew and one niece, and one great nephew and one great niece. Many aunts, uncles and cousins also survive Mr. Guenther.
Services will be held at Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home, Saline, Michigan as follows: Visitation: March 5, 2020 3 pm to 6 pm with memorial service to follow. Rev. Aaron Chittick of St. Paul Lutheran Church, of Coldwater, Michigan will officiate the service.
Burial of Ashes: Oakwood Cemetery March 6, 2020 9:30 am.
