Duane L. “Butch” Steiner, 85 years, of Saline, MI, died Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the home of his daughter after a long illness.
Born May 14, 1932 in Saline, MI, he was the son of Harry and Loretta (Hirth) Steiner. Duane was a Saline resident all of his life.
Duane graduated from Saline High School in 1950, and was a US Army veteran serving in Korea from 1952-1953. He was employed by Michigan Bell Telephone Company in Ann Arbor, MI, for 38 years, and retired from there in 1994. He was a long-time member of the American Legion, William B. Lutz post #322 in Saline, MI.
Duane loved bowling and golf, and was an experienced gardener. He took great pride and comfort in his family, especially his grandchildren.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Loretta Steiner; five brothers (Wesley, La Mar, Harry, Donald, and Walter), and two sisters (Betty and Margaret). He is survived by his daughter Lori (Jeffrey) Black of Saline; three grandchildren, Jason Black of Grand Rapids, Alex Black of Milan, and Katelyn Black Rippelmeyer of Plano, TX; Two brothers Charlie (Mary) and Jack (Alice) Steiner; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 10 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home, 301 East Michigan Ave., Saline, MI, where funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Saline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arbor Hospice or the Cancer Support Community of Ann Arbor.
