Timothy “Murph” Murphy, loving son, husband, father, and friend, of Troy, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2016. Born on January 24, 1970, in Grosse Pointe, he is the son of Lynn Murphy and Ann Murphy (Murtha).
Murph graduated from the University of Michigan and was a member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He worked as an Athletic Trainer for U of M, Northwestern University, and Western Michigan University and later worked in Pharmaceutical sales. Murph was a die hard Michigan fan and all-around sports fanatic. He enjoyed watching football and hockey and as a true family man never missed a single one of his children’s games. He loved music, cooking, and one of his passions was making a homemade ice rink for his children each year. Above all else, his family was his pride and joy and he loved nothing more than spending time with them.
Murph is survived by his wife, Katherine (Kay) Murphy; children, Loren, Madelyn (Maddy), Brendan, and Shalen; siblings, Sean (Beverly) Murphy, Colleen Murphy; his mother and father, Lynn and Ann Murphy, three nieces, two nephews, and many friends.
A visitation was held Sunday, September 25, 2016, at the Nie Family Funeral Home, 3767 W. Liberty Road, Ann Arbor, MI from 2:00 – 8:00 pm. A funeral mass will take place Monday, September 26, 2016 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, 910 Austin Dr., Saline, at 11:00 am. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of service at church.
