Monday the Milan Area Schools district received an electronic bomb threat via email indicating that multiple devices had been placed in several locations within the Milan Area Schools.
The Milan Area School District immediately contacted the Milan Police Department. Schools were evacuated and closed for the day, in an effort to ensure of children and teachers, and staff. Students were evacuated to the Milan Community Center for release, or shelter awaiting release to their parents.
The Milan Area School District reported 100 percent accountability of all students.
The Milan Police Department along with the Michigan State Police, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives are investigating this incident, and the investigation is ongoing.
All schools within the Milan Area Schools District have been searched by school administration, police officers, and bomb detecting canines, and have been found clear of any threats.
