The Saline Area Fire Department just happened to be in the neighborhood – and it might have saved a Textile Road man a significant amount of equipment.
Firefighters were just finishing up a call on Burr Stone Court in Lodi Township around 8 p.m. Wednesday when they were notified of a barn fire on the 3700 block of Textile Road.
When firefighters arrived, it was nearly totally involved. Firefighters knocked it down within five minutes – but by then significant damage had been done to the barn, a shop in the barn, and a camper outside the barn, according to SAFD Lt. Dan Speicher.
Firefighters were able to save a corner of the barn housing lawn equipment.
“For the homeowner, it was tough. Barn fires are so tough to control because they’re so flammable. Because we were so close and able to arrive so quickly and read to go, we were able to save some of it,” Speicher said.
