GYMNASTICS: Saline Defeats Skyline on Senior Night

On a night when Saline honored their only senior, Autumn Hurbis, the Hornets’ gymnastics team came away with a victory over Skyline.

Saline outscored Skyline in the floor exercise and on the uneven bars and came away with a 117.575-113.375 victory.

The Hornets held a slight advantage going into the final event and put the meet away by outscoring Skyline, 31.25 to 28.45.

Sarah McLaughlin, Mallory Boe and Alena Mikosovic finished in the scoring in all four events for Saline.

Skyline took an early lead by taking the vault, 32.875-32.550. Skyline’s Payton Horning recorded the best score of 8.5. Boe led Saline with a score of 8.375. McLaughlin, 8.275, Mikosovic, 8.0, and Cady Schorr, 7.9, finished in the scoring for Saline.

Saline took the lead by scoring a victory on the uneven bars, 24.175-20.650. McLaughlin led all gymnasts with a score of 6.85. Also scoring for Saline were Boe, 6.724, Annie Miloser, 5.7, and Miklosovic, 4.9.

Skyline rebounded to take the balance beam, 31.4-29.6. Skyline’s Julie Park was the tops in the event, scoring 8.85. Saline was led by McLaughlin, who scored a 7.75. Miklosovic, 7.6, Schorr, 7.2, and Boe, 7.050, also finished in the scoring for Saline.

The Hornets’ lead was just over a point after three events. They won the floor exercise, 31.25-28.45 to seal the victory. McLaughlin led all gymnasts with a score of 8.9.  Boe, 8.35, Miklosovic, 7.2, and Madeline Hornyak, 6.8, also finished in the scoring for Saline.
