Saline Girls 14th at Spartan Elite

Saline was 14th in the Spartan Elite girls cross country 5K. Saline finished with 427 points. Northville won with 204 points.

Kayla Fortino was the fastest Hornet, placing  51st in a personal-best 19:39. Senior Regan Barsch was second in 19:57. Freshman Ella Woehlke was 106th in 20:34. Junior Rebecca Cantrell ran a personal best 20:40 to place 117th. Right behind her were junior Juliana Romero (119th, 20:41) and Alexa Stern (120th, 20:41.

Sophomore Emma Cummings won the junior varsity race in 20:24 as the Hornets placed fourth. Katelyn Szafranski (22md, 21:27), Katherine Clark (26th, 21:31), Nicole Dillman (27th, 21:31) and Taylor Vaughan (50th, 22:04) also finished in the scoring.

Saline also ran in the middle school events. The girls finished 12th in the bronze elite with 290 points.

Claire Endres (17th, 12:37) was the fastest Hornet. Madison Stern, Melissa Phelps, Lydia Alig, Amanda Lin and Kylie Evenson also ran.

In the middle school open race Saline finished fourth. MaKenna Lupi (6th, 14:36) was the fastest Hornet. Sophie Woehlke, Zhanna Carlson, Kathryn Rummel and Tess Carichner rounded out the Saline top 5.


The Ann Arbor Running Company 3 Stars:

  1. Kayla Fortino – The sophomore built on a strong run at the SEC Jamobree and set a personal best.
  2. Regan Barsch – Like Aidan Carichner on the boys’ team, Barsch keeps turning in solid races for the Hornets.
  3. Ella Woehlke – The freshman turned in a solid race at a huge meet with a state-championship type field.
