Saline took to the road to win two games from Adrian, Wednesday. The Hornets won the first game, 15-0, and the second game, 11-5, to improve to 14-8.
Brooke Bauer hit a grand slam home run to lead the Hornets in the opening game, which was called after three innings due to the mercy rule.
Alex Pace earned the win in game one. She pitched three scoreless innings and gave up two hits while striking out two.
Saline scored 11 runs in the first inning. Adrian’s pitchers struggled with control. They walked nine batters and hit two batters.
Bauer was 2-for-3 with four RBI and three runs scored. Olivia Darmos was 2-for-2 with a double and three RBI.
Emma Schwartzenberger (1-for-2, double) and Ann-Jo Stuart each drove in two runs. Kelsey Alexander (1-for-1, two walks, 1 RBI) and Ashley Heren (1 walk, 1 RBI) each scored twice.
In the second game, Saline built a 3-0 lead but allowed five runs in the bottom of the fourth. The Hornets used a seven-run sixth to put Adrian away.
Kelsey Alexander homered, drove in two runs and scored twice. Schwartzenberger went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI. Darmos (2 RBI), Bauer (2 runs) and Emily Baldus (2 RBI, a double) each had two hits for Saline.
Baldus pitched seven innings. She gave up five runs, but none were earned. She scattered nine hits, walked three and struck out eight.
