Saline swim and dive picked up two victories Thursday evening. Saline defeated Ypsilanti 153-14 and defeated Lincoln 136-50.
Saline’s athletes won all but one event.
The meet began with Cole Nelson, Ethan Saunders, Joshua Mahaney ad Blake Coy winning the 200-yard medley relay in 1:41.07. Sophomore Cooper Osgood followed by winning the 200-yard freestyle in 1:52.45, while teammate Nicholas Huetteman was third in 1:55.56.
Senior Joshua Mahaney won the 200-yard IM in 2:07.08, while teammate Evan Steele, a freshman, was third in 2:24.92. Senior Cole Nelson won the 50-yard freestyle in 23.19 seconds, as teammate Cole Pelton placed third in 24.43.
Saline swept the top four places in diving. Jason Heisler, a sophomore, was first with 211.5 points. He was followed by juniors Jason Birch, 175.6, and Jacob Niethammer, 155.55, and freshman Cameron Corwin, 149.6.
Osgood won his second event of the night in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing in 56.81, ahead of freshman teammate Ishan Mendiratta, who was second in 1:02.35. Saline had another 1-2 finish in the 100-yard freestyle, where senior Henry Han, 51.68, edged fellow Hornet Gavin Dawid, 57.6. Yet another Hornet 1-2 finish cam in the 500-yard freestyle, won by sophomore Ethan Saunders in 4:52.52. Thomas Walsh was second in 5:08.72. Saline won the 200-yard freestyle relay, with Nelson, Joshua Mahaney, Han and Osgood swimming the race in 1:34.52.
Freshman Blake Coy won the 100-yard backstroke in 59.28. Steele was third in 1:05.71. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Jacob Gorman of Lincoln won in 1:03.26. Joshua Brunty was second, 1:03.88, and Alex Melnyk was third, 1:21.31.
Saline capped the evening with Saunders, Coy, Mahaney and Nelson winning the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:23.58.
