WRESTLING: Saline Bows Out of Team Tournament in Regional Final

Brett Marvin was one of several Hornets to win by pin in the regional semifinal Wednesday.

Saline’s wrestling team bowed out of the team tournament in the regional final.

Saline won its regional final match against Salem, 51-25. In the final, they ran into a dominating Detroit Catholic Central team.

Against Salem, Cade Gilless, 171 pounds, won by pin at 2:46. Brett Thornell, 112 pounds, won by pin at 1:12. Brett Marvin, 103 pounds, won by pin at 51 seconds. Elliot Hill, 145 pounds, also won by pin at 41 seconds.

Harrison Hill won by disqualification. Joshua Brannan, 189 pounds, won a 3-2 decision.

Eight Hornets wrestle for the chance to advance to the state championship Saturday when the  the individual regional tournament takes place at Saline High School.
